GDI goaltenders have came up big for their teams this week as the season moves into February, inching closer towards playoffs.
In the SJHL - Myles Hovdebo turned aside all 22 shots he faced, as the La Ronge Ice Wolves blanked the Melfort Mustangs 2-0. The Ice Wolves (28-17-0-5) are in a great battle for third place in the Bauer, and close the gap to one point back of Nipawin, who currently holds down third spot. Both teams have 8 games to play.
In the MJHL - Teagan Sacher pushed out 43 of 44 shots to capture a 4-1 victory
for the Saints over the Winkler Flyers. Many of their match-ups together have been close fought games, besides this one where Sacher was able to hold off the Flyers attack and calm the storm to allow his team to pick up two points. In the two games that Sacher has faced against Winkler he has seen a total of 77 shots against and has allowed a low 4 goals to get past him.
In the MBAAA - Both Shaun Gerbinski of the Winnipeg Thrashers and Ty Edmonds of the Winnipeg Wild picked up shutout wins for their teams. Gerbinski takes his league leading 6th shutout of the year and Edmonds grabs his 4th of the year.
