The Spokane Chiefs claimed their first win 5-3 over Seattle with the help from both Zac Rakochy and Mac Engel defending the net. Zach Rakocky, longtime GDI student is an 18-year-old rookie from Canora, SK. He started in net for the Chiefs and stopped 12 shots in 13 opportunities.  Two-year veteran Mac Engel replaced him mid-way through the second and was 15 for 17.   In total, the Chiefs outshot the Thunderbirds 43-30. It was the first of three pre-season games over the weekend for Spokane.  They will play the host Silvertips on Saturday night at 7:00 before they finish the weekend on Sunday with a 1:00 game versus the Portland Winterhawks. The Chiefs will go head to head against GDI students Andy Desautels and Austin Lotz who are both currently rostered for the Everett Silvertips.
