As the end of the year approaches award nominations are brought up and yet again GDI Goaltenders have found their way into the mix. Diving heads first into the nominees we will first look at the GDI 3 Stars for the month of January as seen above in the video. Next up we look to visit the MJHL. For the 3rd straight year the Addison Division rivals - the Winnipeg Saints and the Selkirk Steelers - met up at the MTS Centre for the Red River Showdown. With the Steelers winning in 2010 and the Saints taking the game last year, this was the rubber match. Patrick D'Amico scored his 13th of the season midway through the first period and the Saints never looked back. Goaltender Addison Herosian helped backstop the Saints with 26 saves as they defeated the Selkirk Steelers 4-1 to win the Red River Showdown at the MTS Centre on Wednesday. Both Saints goaltenders, league veteran Addison Herosian and first year netminder Teagan Sacher, have been training with GDI Prairies for the past three years. Currently the team looks to catch the Selkirk Steelers in the standings as they fight for 4th place with 3 games in hand. Stemming from this match-up this leads into the MJHL Awards as they were announced days after the Red River Showdown. Nominees for the MJHL’s six major awards were finalized and the respective winners will be announced later this month. Nominated for the league MVP Steve “Boomer” Hawrysh Award was Matt Krahn (OCN Blizzard) for the second year and Swan Valley Stampeders Jarson Argue. Up for the leagues Top Goaltender is the Selkirk Steelers Adam Harris, Swan Valley's Jayson Argue and OCN's Matt Krahn. For more on the MJHL Award nominations Click Here.
