The Steinbach Pistons put a strong exclamation point on their preseason with a 5-0 win over the Selkirk Steelers Saturday night.

Nick Deery had 40 saves for the shutout, and he explains what the team needs to focus on with the start of the regular season under one week away.

"After having a good weekend like this we have to stay even-keeled and carry some momentum in practice," he says.  "Just do a lot of flow things in practice and not try to get too high or two low.  Just an even-keel mind set and just be ready for the game." Dan Ferguson Nick Deery Steinbach Pistons MJHLHead Coach and General Manager Paul Dyck notes he likes what he saw from the Pistons over the course of the pre-season. "I thought we got better as the preseason went on," he describes.  "Obviously your lineup changes, but we've talked here about putting building blocks in place so when the regular season comes around we're prepared.  I thought today once again we got better as the game went on.  Even with a 4-0 score in the third period I thought our guys played hard.  We were tracking, we were finishing our checks.  We talked about little habits and executing those, so those are little things you want to carry forward."
