"What a steal" some may say as a goaltender closes the door on the opposing team and finds a way to grab a win for their team. On Friday night that was definitely the case for both Mac Engel and Alex Moodie. Playing in front of 4,700 fans at the Toyota Center in Kennewick Washington, Mac Engel came up big for the Spokane Chiefs. Entering the 3rd period of the game down 1-0 Engel proceeded to close the door on all 18 shots he faced, allowing Spokane to put three past Eric Comrie to capture the win. Stopping 37 of 38 on the night and killing all five of the Americans Power Play chances, Engel helped the Chiefs to a big 3-0 road win against the Western Conference leader, the Tri-City Americans. Also being awarded the nights 1st Star Award was Alex Moodie. On a wild ride as he started his WHL career not too long ago due to being called up to replace injured goaltender Andrey Makarov, he has turned heads with his stellar performances between the pipes! This past evening he built up another brick wall as he only allowed two on 35 shots fired his way, which included a similar pattern to Engels game, as he went on to the third period pushing aside 16 of 17 shots. Around the Western Hockey League, Chris Driedger, Damien Ketlo, and Payton Lee also picked up wins for their teams.
