GDI Goalie Jason Kasdorf had a night to remember as his RPI Engineers defeated Cornell University. Two of the best goaltenders in ECAC Hockey met on the ice at Houston Field House on Friday night, but after 60 minutes one proved to be clearly superior. Senior Jason Kasdorf stopped all 44 shots he faced to outduel Cornell's Mitch Gillam and RPI defeated the seventh-ranked Big Red 1-0 on captain Chris Bradley's second-period goal in front of 3,455 fans. "It's a great win," said RPI coach Seth Appert, whose Engineers (5-1-4) moved ahead of Cornell into second place in the conference with the hard-fought victory. "We found a way to win a game where we weren't at our best. They outplayed us territorially. We missed the net too much tonight." In fact, the 20th-ranked Engineers ended up with only 16 shots on net, but Kasdorf was an impenetrable wall in recording his second shutout of the season for the Engineers. "He played an awesome game," said Cornell coach Mike Schafer, whose teams haven't won a game in Houston Field House since 2011. "He's a good goaltender. He made all kinds of saves. The final score is what counts." Cornell outshot the Engineers 17-6 in the second period, but RPI left the ice with a 1-0 lead thanks to a season-first goal by defenseman Bradley at 14:22 and more stellar goaltending from Kasdorf. GDI Summer Camps:These are the anchor to the goaltender’s off-season development needs. These 4 or 5 day camps provide the biggest impact on goaltender performance in a short period of time. Our camps are very intense and goaltenders will conduct on-ice sessions, fitness testing, flexibility and hand eye training, classroom sessions, daily journals, off-ice dryland, comprehensive evaluation reports and much more.
