Ryan Cyr attends Net360:
GDI President Ryan Cyr was in Kelowna, BC this past week to attend the Net360 goalie camp. Net 360 is the vision of a small group of people, each an expert in their specific field of hockey development, that all share a common passion for the game as well as a desire to be a driving force behind the development of goaltenders. Also in attendance were GDI Goalies Austin Lotz and Tyson Verhelst. Net360 featured 5 NHL goalies including GDI Goalie James Reimer. ______________________________________________________________________________________
GDI Instructor Mark Friesen continues as Goalie Coach for the Winkler Flyers
Mark Friesen joined the Flyers as a Goaltending Coach last season after completing his five year WHL Career (Chilliwack, Swift Current) followed by one season at the University of Manitoba. “We’re glad to welcome Mark back to our coaching staff. It’s nice to have the continuity, and speaking with Adam Vander Linden (Flyers goaltender), he is very happy to have Mark back and felt he showed great improvement last season working with him.” Stated Pearson. Flyers Main Camp will begin on Wednesday, August 27th with the annual Orange vs Black Intrasquad game taking place on Saturday, August 30th at 12:00pm. GDI in Brandon, Manitoba
This past week saw GDI travel to Brandon, Manitoba for another week long camp. Goalies were again put to the test on the ice as well as off the ice going through multiple daily ice times and workouts. They were also tested mentally completing their daily journals. GDI’s camps have long stood for a comprehensive approach to goaltender development with a strong emphasis on the technical, psychological, physiological and equipment dimensions of the game. This week GDI will be hosting another sold-out camp in Winnipeg, MB. ______________________________________________________________________________________
