In-Season Total GDI Academy:

Total GDI Academy With the new hockey season approaching the In-Season Total GDI Academy is starting to fill up. The In-Season Total GDI Goaltending Academy is designed to support the competitive athlete. With hectic team practice and game schedules in mind, the Academy gives goaltenders the opportunity to train before school hours to help their time management and create a positive environment to succeed at both education and hockey development. In addition to on-ice development goalies will receive video analysis to constructively critique their performance in each days on-ice topic. This overall support and mentorship will help enhance game play throughout the season. GDI offers 3 different days for the In-Season Total Academy with Tuesdays and Wednesdays at The Rink Training Centre and Fridays at Gateway arena. Spots are filling up fast with only a few remaining. Look to book your spot as soon as possible.  Chris DriedgerDreidger Looking To Push For Starting Role With The Binghamton Senators

Recent WHL graduate Chris Dreidger will be looking to get as many starts as possible in his first season of pro hockey. Driedger spent the last 4 seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Tri-City Americans and Calgary Hitmen. "However Hammond, should be looking over his shoulder at some point as the new rookie in town will be if not eager to share the work in earning his way up into the starting position. Dreidger will get his fair share of starts as he indeed comes in as a highly touted prospect for the organization and wanting him to get in as many games as possible in 2014-'15." LotzLotz Returns To The Silvertips

There were a pair of strangers at Everett practice Thursday afternoon at Lynnwood Ice Center. Defenseman Ben Betker and goaltender Austin Lotz have both been away for two weeks as they first attended NHL rookie training camps, then advanced to main camps. Betker was with the Edmonton Oilers, who picked him in the sixth round of the 2013 NHL draft. Lotz was with the Vancouver Canucks on a free-agent tryout.  HughsonGarret Hughson Remains Unbeaten For The Spokane Chiefs

 Hughson was solid in net again for the Spokane Chiefs as they beat the rival Tri-City Americans in their home opener.  Hughson stopped 22 of the 24 shots the Americans threw at him. Hughson also helped the Chiefs kill all 4 Tri-City power plays. The win was also a major milestone for Don Nachbaur, the head coach of the Spokane Chiefs. Nick DeeryWeek Of Firsts For GDI Goalies

This past week was full of firsts for multiple GDI Goalies. Nick Deery of the Steinbach Pistons was busy in back to back wins over the Swan Valley Stampeders and Dauphin Kings. Deery turned aside 28 of 29 shots in a 4-1 win over the Stampeders Friday night. He earned 3rd star honours for his effort. The following night Deery managed to one up his previous night's performance by making 41 saves in a 4-1 win over the Dauphin Kings. It's no surprise Deery was named the first star of the game. Speaking of firsts, the other story of the game was Troy Martyniuk, who was making his first career start in the MJHL for the Dauphin Kings. Martyniuk made 22 saves in the defeat. Hayden Dola - Selkirk Steelers GDI Goalie MJHL HockeyAnother GDI Goalie making his first MJHL start was Tyler Brown of the Winnipeg Blues. Brown showed no signs of nerves as he turned away 23 of the 25 shots sent his way by the Swan Valley Stampeders. The Blues took this game by a score of 6-2. Continuing with the firsts for goalies was Hayden Dola of the Selkirk Steelers. Dola was able to secure his first career MJHL win over the Swan Valley Stampeders. Dola was solid stopping 29 of 30 shots and was awarded by being named the 2nd star of the game. ______________________________________________________________________________________

St. MaloGDI In Rural Manitoba

Once again GDI hit the road for the weekend conducting clinics for minor hockey associations. Friday night GDI was back in St. Malo to work with the Rat River minor hockey goalies. Saturday saw GDI return to Oakbank for yet another clinic with the local goaltenders. GDI would like to wish good luck this upcoming season to all the goalies that attended the clinics over the weekend. ______________________________________________________________________________________
