Edmonds And The Cougars Are Playoff Bound
After a four year hiatus, The Prince George Cougars are heading back to the Western Hockey League playoffs with the help from GDI goalie Ty Edmonds.
Edmonds appeared in 60 of 72 regular season games for the Cougars this year posting a record of 28-24-2-3. Edmonds improved on his season numbers from last year with a goals against average of 3.62 with a save percentage of .892.
Edmonds and the Cougars will meet the Victoria Royals in the first round of the WHL playoffs.
Ty Edmonds also received the Chris Mason Award at the conclusion of the Cougars final home game. The Chris Mason award is awarded to the player who accumulated the most points from the 3 star selections during the season for the Cougars.
Edmonds has been training with GDI for 7 years through 1v1 lessons and the Total GDI Academy.
Regina Pats Enjoying Wealth Of Goaltenders
Tyler Brown doesn't feel like the same wide-eyed rookie who joined the Regina Pats a little over five months ago.
The 17-year-old netminder is a more confident version of his former self - a transformation which gives the WHL club a legitimate option behind veteran starter Daniel Wapple.
"I agree," said head coach John Paddock. "There should be some progression naturally but I think he is really showing us something. He has everyone's attention."
For Brown, it's mission accomplished.
"All you have to do is take advantage of the opportunity, play your best and show what you can do," offered Brown, who was encouraged by his 27-save effort Tuesday in a 4-1 loss to the top-ranked Brandon Wheat Kings. "I feel pretty confident. I feel a lot more composed (than earlier this season). Brandon is a tough team and that's really the test I wanted. It shows I can actually play."
