McBride Heading To Hollywood
The Prince Albert Raiders goaltender went undrafted, but had multiple teams inviting him to their development camps. With his agent, McBride mulled over the offers before deciding to attend the Los Angeles Kings’ camp.
“My agent thought it was a really good opportunity for me and they need to reload on their goalies because they’re going a little thin,” said the 18-year-old. “We jumped on the opportunity.”
The Kings moved last year’s backup goaltender Martin Jones to the Boston Bruins prior to the NHL Draft. Jones was subsequently traded to the San Jose Sharks.
McBride hopes to follow in Jones’ path to the NHL. Like McBride, Jones went undrafted and was offered a try-out with the Kings. After a successful rookie camp, Jones joined the Kings’ main camp before signing a three-year deal with Los Angeles.

Total GDI Off-Season Academy Kicks Off
The Total GDI Off-Season Academy has begun and just wrapped up week one.
The Total GDI Off-Season Academy is an eight week program that runs throughout July and August. Each week the goalies are on the ice three times with one 1v1 lesson, one PSM Conditioning circuit and one Tactical session.
A new feature this year is the old school goalie mask. The mask will be given to the hardest worker in each group at the conclusion of every tactical session.
GDI looks forward to working with these goalies all summer preparing them for their upcoming hockey seasons!
