Make sure you stay sharp throughout the spring with GDI 1v1 lessons. The month of May is starting to fill up for 1v1 sessions at the centre. We are open from 3:30pm-9:30pm during the week and 10:00am-2:00pm / 3:00pm-7:00pm Saturdays and 10:00am-3:00pm Sundays. Mowat Named Assistant Captain For Bemidji

GDI Goalie Brittni Mowat has just been named an Assitant Captain for the Bemidji State University Beavers Women's Hockey Team.  Bemidji State University women’s hockey head coach Jim Scanlan announced that senior Madison Hutchinson will serve as the team captain for the 2016-17 season. Hutchinson will captain the Beaver squad with assistant captains Carley Esse, Lauren Miller and Brittni Mowat. “All four will provide outstanding leadership for our group both on and off the ice,” said Scanlan. “Not only are they all excellent hockey players, they are even better people. They will be tremendous mentors for our younger players and will be great ambassadors for our program.” Brittni Mowat will serve as one of three assistant captains after garnering All-WCHA Second Team honors last season and set a program record with 22 wins. The Glenboro, Manitoba native is a two-time WCHA Scholar Athlete and Academic All-WCHA team member and was selected to the CCM/AHCA All-American First Team in 2014-15. Mowat holds the career wins record at BSU with 51 wins and currently holds the career records for goals against average (1.93) and save percentage (.934). Hughson Sets Records On Route To AJHL Championship

The Whirlwind season for Garret Hughson will continue as the Brooks Bandits have captured the AJHL Championship. Hughson was outstanding throughout the entire playoff run which included him setting a new playoff league record! Hughson now owns the record for lowest Gaa which comes in at a ridiculous 1.10. The previous record was set at 1.23. Hughson has also tied the playoff record for shutouts with 4. Including the regular season, Hughson has thrived between the pipes for the Bandits posting a combined record of 26-4. His combined Gaa is an impressive 1.73 with an equally impressive Sv% of .935. Hughson and the Bandits will now head to Estevan, SK where they will compete in the Western Canada Cup. Joining the Bandits will be the defending RBC Cup Champions Portage Terriers (MJHL), West Kelowna Warriors (BCHL), Melfort Mustangs (SJHL) and the host Estevan Bruins (SJHL). The top two teams will advance on to compete for the National Jr. A Championship, The RBC Cup. Hughson has travelled to Winnipeg to work through GDI 1v1 Lessons. Hughson is also a former goaltender for the Spokane Chiefs where GDI President Ryan Cyr is the goaltending coach.

GDI Goalies Lead Charge At AAA Awards Banquet

Winnipeg AAA held their annual awards banquet this past Thursday. Many GDI Goalies heard their names announced as either nominees or award winners!

Mitchel Adamyk: Provinicial Midget AAA MVP & Impact Player of the Year

Mitchel Adamyk of the Winnipeg Wild took home two of the biggest awards from the AAA Awards banquet. First, he was named the Most Valuable Player for the Provincial Midget AAA category. Later on in the night he was named the AAA Impact Player of the Year. The Impact Player award goes to the most outstanding player in all levels of AAA hockey. Adamyk was the instrumental in the Winnipeg Wild capturing the league championship this season. Adamyk led in every goaltending category for the playoffs with a 1.83 Gaa and .936 Sv%. Adamyk posted a 9-1 record during the playoffs with the only loss coming in the form of a 1-0 loss in overtime where he stopped 49 of 50 shots. Adamyk has trained with GDI for many years through 1v1 Lessons, GDI Prospect Clinics and the Total GDI Academy.

Dylan Myskiw Thrashers GDI GoaltendingDylan Myskiw: Provincial Midget AAA Top Goaltender

Dylan Myskiw enjoyed a strong sophomore season with the Winnipeg Thrashers which resulted in him being named the Provincial Midget AAA Top Goaltender by Winnipeg AAA. Myskiw's numbers were top notch through the regular season posting a 2.23 Gaa and .937 Sv%. Myskiw also posted 3 shutouts during the season and another one in the playoffs. Myskiw has been a regular at GDI training through 1v1 Lessons and the Total GDI Academy. GDI Development Coordinator Brett Martyniuk is also the goaltending coach of the Winnipeg Thrashers.

Matt RadomskyMatt Radomsky: Provincial Midget AAA Top Goaltender

Matt Radomsky was named the Top Goaltender by the MMHL. In his rookie season with the Winnipeg Wild, Radomsky led the league with a 1.55 Gaa. His Sv% was equally impressive coming in at .931. Radomsky also blanked the opposition 3 times over the course of the season. Radomsky has been training with GDI for many years through 1v1 lessons and the Total GDI Academy.  

City Midget AAA:

The city midget AAA category saw 6 GDI Goalies nominated for the Top Goaltender award with Logan Thiessen of the Hawks being named the Top Goaltender and MVP. Miles Minor (Monarchs) Tyson Gautier (Sharks) Nik Anderson (Warriors), Wyatt Emes (Selects), Riley Sveistrup (Lightning) were all nominated for the City Midget AAA Top Goaltender Award.

Bantam 1 AAA:

Brody Lawson of the Winnipeg Warriors was named the Bantam 1 AAA Top Goaltender. GDI Goalies Isaac Poulter (Monarchs) and Dawson Rattai (Sharks) were also nominated for Top Goaltender.

Bantam 2 AAA:

Connor Murphy of the Winnipeg Monarchs was named the Top Goaltender for the Bantam 2 AAA category. Noah Gilbert (Hawks), Nik Jerris (Warriors), Fraser Senebold (Sharks) were also all nominated for the award. Honourable mention goes to Dante Giannuzzi who along with Murphy were a part of the Monarchs squad that went undefeated during the regular season. GDI would like to congratulate all of the award winners and nominees on their fantastic seasons! We look forward to working with all of you this off-season!
