Under 16 and Under 18 POE Team Manitoba Camps:

GDI Trained netminders were away this past weekend in Portage Manitoba for the Program of Excellence Top 40 Evaluation Camp. Both the Under 16 Male and Under 18 Female hopeful's attended the camp from Thursday to Sunday to put their skills on display for their teams coaches. Ryan Kubic, Mitch Adamyk, and Ryan Hall have all trained at the GDI Training Centre and made a strong push for a spot on the Under 16 roster. On the Under 18 roster Jessica Campbell, Kristen Campbell, Justine McIntosh, Devan Johnson, and Anna Kulas have all trained with GDI. The POE TOP-40 Camp is an integral piece in determining not only the short list of skill & talent for Team Manitoba but also a significant importance is placed on team building, off-ice behaviour, and estimating individual character and leadership qualities. U-16 Team Manitoba will compete at the Western Canada U-16 Challenge Cup in Calgary, October 31-November 3, 2013 followed by U-18 Team Manitoba competing at the National U-18 Women’s Championships also in Calgary, November 6-10, 2013. ______________________________________________________________

Reimer Leads the Leafs to a Game 7 Do-Or-Die:

James Reimer started the playoffs without a single game of post-season experience. The Toronto Maple Leafs, made sure his first few games offered a rocky start for him. Heading into Game 6 of the Eastern Conference quarter-final with the Boston Bruins on Sunday, Reimer had faced more shots than any goaltender in the first round, and not by a small margin. In total he saw 207 shots through the first five games. Sunday night the Manitoba born netminder went to work again as he made 29 of 30 saves as he held a shutout for the majority of the game until the closing minutes where the Bruins made a push to tie the game. In this one he went on to make yet another series saving stop on Patrice Bergeron who attempted a wraparound around the goal when Reimer was seemingly down and out. Reimer dove across the crease and stymied him with an unorthodox blocker save. The fans in and outside of the Air Canada Centre were on their feet chanting his name immediately after. Game 7 of the series now goes tonight! ___________________________________________________________________________
