GDI Goalies Well Into WHL and Junior A Training Camps :

Recent Junior A News:
The Dauphin Kings are down to three goaltenders: Veterans from this past MJHL Finalists run, Jeremy Pominville and Brian Archibald, and rookie netminder Adam Vanderlinden. All three goaltenders have been playing exceptionally well. In the Steinbach Pistons exhibition games over the weekend newcomers Nick Deery and Mario Petit had a great start to the teams exhibition campaign as the team took down Winkler on Friday night. The following two games on Saturday and Sunday goaltenders Zach Rakochy, Hunter Plozay, and Erik Pion stepped up to the plate to keep the teams win streak alive with strong play in-between the pipes. GDI Goaltenders Hayden Dola, Dylan Kehler, and Kyle McHolm have all played well for the Selkirk Steelers to make their decision tough as September rolls on. For the OCN Blizzard Brody Claeys is turning heads as he has been showing well through the exhibition games and is sticking around to push for a spot on the team this year. After 3 exhibition games Justin Holder continues to compete for a spot on the Virden Oil Capitals to help the team have a successful 2nd season in the MJHL.Recent Major Junior News:
The Regina Pats announced three roster moves on Saturday, reassigning forwards Sam Steel, 15, and Colton Kroeker, 16, along with goalie Adam Beukeboom, 19. The departure of Beukeboom, who’s expected to rejoin the junior A Drumheller Dragons, means the Pats have settled on their two goalies: Teagan Sacher and Dawson MacAuley. Beukeboom split the goaltending duties with MacAuley in each of Regina’s first two exhibition games. He allowed six goals on 31 shots while MacAuley stopped 25 of 27. Sacher is expected to start on Tuesday in Saskatoon against the Blades. For more on this article by the Regina Leader Post Click Here. The six-foot, 165-pound Edmonds, a Winnipeg native and ninth-round draft pick of the Cougars in 2011, played last season in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League for the Virden Oil Capitals. In 26 games, he had a 3.74 goals-against average and .887 save percentage. Edmonds played half the game Saturday in the Cougars 8-4 triumph over the Red Deer Rebels. "Brett Zarowny and Ty Edmonds played very well on the weekend and we just felt this was a good move to make us a better team," said Cougars general manager Dallas Thompson. "It gives us an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old and that's a good thing obviously. We'll fill those 20-year-old spots at some point, depending on what comes along." Ty Edmonds has been training with GDI since he started recieving consulting back in 2007. Teagan Sacher has been with GDI since the opening of the Training Centre in 2009. The past two years they both have taken part in the Total GDI Academy in the off-season where they are at the GDI Training Centre for 4 days a week. As we can tell the preparation helped! Best of luck this upcoming season Ty and Sach! In other news, another two longtime GDI students are making strides to push to stay in the WHL this season. Both Zac Robidoux and Evan Johnson are proving their worth for there teams early on in exhibition play. Evan Johnson stopped 36 of 38 the other night against Red Deer and Robidoux pushed aside 25 of 27 vs Swift Current. 1997 born netminders Tyson Verhelst and Logan Flodell not only remain in conention for roster spots with Spokane and Seattle but also are wide eyed for the spot on Team West for the World Under 17 Challenge. Verhelst went 12 for 12 against Kootney on September 6th and Flodell turned aside the 28 of 30 shots he was peppered with in his half of the game against Portland. ___________________________________________________________________________From Andy Desautels (@andydez): "hungry for a W"
