Ty EdmondsFriday night Ty Edmonds and the Prince George Cougars visited the Moose Jaw Warriors.The Cougars were playing their 5th of 6 games on their Eastern Conference road swing and Edmonds turned in a first star performance. The Cougars would defeat the Warriors 2-1 in a very close matchup. GDI Goalie Ty Edmonds weathered off a barrage of shots in the first period to keep the score tied 0-0 as the Warriors outshot the Cougars 13-6 in the first frame. Edmonds finished the night with 21 saves and was perfect on the penalty kill, killing off all 3 Warriors power plays. Game Summary BoesCorbin Boes continued his strong play on Wednesday with his new team, the Portland Winterhawks. Boes and the Winterhawks defeated the Everett Silvertips 8-1 in a game which saw Boes and his teammates kill off 8 of 9 power plays against. Boes also saw a fair amount of rubber as he turned away 27 shots, only letting one slip behind him. Boes will be looking to continue his strong play into the home stretch of the season, as his Portland Winterhawks sit comfortably in second place in the Western conference.   ___________________________________________________________________________

IMG_1967Justin Holder put on a show Wednesday night in Neepawa being named the second star of the game. Holder and his Waywayseecappo Wolverines travelled into Neepawa to face the Natives, in which they left town with a 5-2 win. Holder had a strong night in net for the Wolverines, stopping 38 of 40 shots.   IwanIt was an all GDI matchup in The Pas Friday night as Adam Iwan faced off against Brian Archibald. Iwan and the Virden Oil Capitals would be the better team on this night, as they took the 2 points by a score of 4-2. Adam Iwan was solid when needed as he stopped 15 of 17 shots against including killing off all 6 Blizzard power plays. Brian Archibald  of the Blizzard was the busier netminder  on this night as he made 36 saves in the loss. ___________________________________________________________________________ Tyler Brown 4The Winnipeg Wild & Winnipeg Thrashers collided Wednesday night, as the cross town rivals met for the final time this season. GDI Goalies Tyler Brown (Wild) and Ryan Kubic (Thrashers) were in net for their respective teams. Brown would prove to be the victor as he didn't allow a single shot past him, stopping all 28 Thrasher shots. Kubic stopped 23 of 26 shots in the losing cause.   Reid StallardThe Brandon Wheat Kings continued their dominance over the league Sunday, when they defeated the Interlake Lightning 5-1 in a penalty filled affair. Both Reid Stallard of the Wheat Kings and Hunter Ploszay of the Lightning stood tall on the multiple power plays they faced. Stallard would finish the night killing off 12 of 13 Lightning power plays and stopping 26 of 27 shots. Ploszay ended up killing off 11 of 13 Wheat King power plays stopping 28 of 33 shots against.     ______________________________________________________________________
